Daily Jack & Arch

August 28, 2009

I’ve decided to start posting a daily photo of Jackson and Archer. There are quite a few reasons for this:

I am ALWAYS taking their pictures, so why not post them to my blog?

I’ll take any opportunity to show off my beautiful boys.

This blog is used for updating my extended family on our lives at the Fry household and I know they would enjoy more pictures.

I need something to get me motivated to post more often.

And, that about sums it up. So, here you go lovely people, my babies.

Sweater Weather!

August 27, 2009

There was a tease of a season change that happened last week. Temperatures were in the seventies and the evenings were almost cool enough for a light sweater. From this I have gotten really excited that fall is on the way. With fall comes my desire to knit. I am working on two projects at the moment and finished one that will be a gift for a new mom at her baby shower. Jackson has been asking for his scarf from last year, so I decided to make him a nicer one. I’m also working on my second pair of baby leg warmers. My plan is to make a bunch of leg warmers to either post on my website or take to a local shop. Hopefully I can get a good amount of merch ready for holiday shopping. We shall see …

Sick Day

August 26, 2009

We are having a sick day at the Fry household. Jackson woke us all up getting sick EVERYWHERE! He’s totally fine today, but we thought we’d have an easy going “sick” day anyway. This means the TV has been on since 10am (when we finally rolled out of bed), I am still in pajamas, and no one is obligated to do ANYTHING!

I got bored after Archer has somehow managed to be napping for almost 2 hours. I’ve been running back and forth to the bedroom to check on him because I keep hearing phantom cries, but every time, he’s sound asleep.

So, I went around the house taking pictures of what the fam is doing on this glorious day.

And Lionel? He’s probably chillin’ at one our neighbors’ houses.

Stimulate Your Mind

August 20, 2009

I know I post way too often about mommy stuff, but hey, my life is full of mommy things to talk about. Maybe in a year or so, I’ll start posting about interesting books that I’ve read or some band I happened to see that rocked the heezy. (It’s hard to believe that I will EVER get the time to read a book again in my life. I mean, there’s time, but it’s usually spent doing other things that are easier done without a 17 pound baby in my right arm.) For now, my lovely readers, you get mommy stuff.

I am starting to wonder if keeping my oldest home with me is the best thing for him. He’s got more energy than any child you will ever meet, and if not used constructively, we have problems. Not major problems, but it ends up with me yelling. Really, it’s my fault. I need to be giving him activities, and keeping him busy. He’s SUCH a smart little boy, and he’s starving to learn. My new goal (which I had this idea in mind before Archer came along) is to have more learning activities for Jackson. Maybe printing out some worksheets, playing more stimulating games on the internet, and more direction on his art projects. We do all of these things now, but they are few and far between. I think it’s time to be consistently offering projects for him to do. I am also looking into a music class for Jackson. It seems like something he would love. There really isn’t much that he doesn’t love, other than naps and green stuff for dinner. And maybe, the year prior to kindergarten, we could try finding a good preschool in the area to have him attend a few days a week. I really think he needs the constant stimulation and socialization. He is most definitely a people person. Everyone we see is our friend and he MUST know their name. Today, he decided it was a good idea to yell out the car window across the parking lot to an older gentlemen. I decided that it actually wasn’t the best idea. He’ll figure out this meeting people thing one of these days.

Anyway, I would really appreciate any ideas for activities at home or websites that you found interesting for an almost 4 year old. And, if anyone could recommend a preschool, that would be wonderful!

Half of a Year, Already?

August 10, 2009

I am amazed. My baby boy is going to be 6 months old tomorrow! It’s hard to believe. At times I feel like he just joined us, but then I think of how many months he’s been here, and WOW! My little peanut of The Arch is no more. He’s done so much in the past month, there’s no way he could avoid aging, I guess. He experienced his first road trip, hotel stay, hike through a forest, walk through a cave, and his first view of a mountain. He’s also sitting up and getting up on all fours. His brother and cousins are coercing him to walk by next month. They have WAY too much fun for him to just sit by and watch for too much longer. So, mobility is in Archer’s plans, for sure. He is also doing well with the EC’ing. We are mostly diaper free at home. Outings are a different story, but we are getting there! Happy 6 months, my beautiful boy!
